East Africa

East Africa represents the archetypal safari to most.

Tanzania and Kenya are definitely Africa's most popular wildlife destinations and you'll find a host of inexpensive to cheap "safari packages" and "safari-beach combinations".  (Unfortunately we don't try to compete in this market.)

We operate with a specific selection of camps and guides in both Tanzania and Kenya - our focus is predominantly on small group and privately guided trips particularly in the Serengeti, Selous and Ruaha...

The trick to a planning a successful safari in the region invariably comes down to guiding standards and achieving a balance between affordability and "crowd avoidance"...

Take a look at our safaris and tours in Tanzania and Kenya for the upcoming season....or see if any discounted safaris and lastminute specials are available....

Airfares to East Africa
Cheap airfares to Tanzania and Kenya

Tanzania

  • Ideally based on either a "northern circuit" out of Arusha or a "southern circuit" out of Dar es Salaam.
  • Seasonal variations are a critical component in planning.  The Serengeti migration is ideally viewed between mid-December and the end of May.  The dry season between June and November is a good time to get into the Serengeti and Ngorongoro to avoid the crowds.
  • The Ruaha and Selous are probably the closest we can get to the perfect safari spots in Tanzania - accessible in August, September and October only - crowds are not a problem!
  • Best spots are the Ruaha and Selous in the south, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire in the north.

Kenya

  • Nairobi is the primary hub for accessing all of the main attractions including the Mara, Amboseli, the Abedares, Tsavo, the Rift Valley lakes, Mt. Kenya and the coast.
  • Game and wildlife opportunities are generally excellent all year round and the only "low season" is during the heavy rains in April and May
  • Kenya is at its best between July and October - the migration in the Mara is usually at its best in August and September
  • There's a fine balance in achieving an exceptional safari without crowds though and unfortunately price is often the main determinant.
